The company was founded by Mr. Demetris Mitides back in 1960 to be passed on to his son Mr. Alexandros Mitides who is the director of the company since 1985.

In its early stages the company’s line of business was mining works and imports of ceramic, marble and granite.  In 1970 it also included exports to Israel and other European countries, specializing in mosaic (used in tiles, road facing, coatings etc).  Additionally to mosaic, exports to Israel, UK and the Nordic Countries included pentonite (cat litter) until raw material quarry permits were withdrawn in 2002.   In 1985 Egeko started quarrying blocks, exporting them to Israel until 1995 when, being the leading company in Cyprus, it started processing blocks, exporting them as ready material.

Egeko owns a factory in a company’s owned piece of land of 4500m2 since 1995 as well as 2 quarries with a daily production rate of 200 tons of blocks.  The factory is continually being upgraded using the latest technology machinery.  Today’s production is being exported to Greece, Italy and Israel.  Our records have shown that between 1985 and 2000 the company exported 1.000.000 m2 of sandstone to Israel.  We specialize on houses construction works such as window frames, staircases, pools etc.

There is an expanding policy on behalf of the company towards the European market while today’s line of business also includes import and wholesale of marble, granite and synthetic granite representing the Italian factory OKITE.
